In Revelation 2:9, we read, “’ I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you
are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but
are a synagogue of Satan.’”
Now, the common idea ── according to a most popular Protestant website, Got
Questions-- is, “In short, the synagogue of Satan was a group of unbelieving Jews
who were persecuting Christians.” As in “International Jewry” ── that is, Gentiles
masquerading as Jews.
This is incorrect!
Let’s learn God’s living word on this mysterious verse ── and not the American
industrialist and inventor, Henry Ford, who was among the most well-known anti
Semite of his era. Ford published The Dearborn Independent, a weekly newspaper
produced throughout the 1920s. The newspaper also published the featured
pamphlet—The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem, of which so
many – even today – want to believe.
So, notice this is a synagogue of Satan. And the word “synagogue” in Greek is
synagōgē, which means “congregation, meeting, a gathering of worshipers.” So, our
Lord Jesus is not speaking of a race, but of a group of worshipers ── in this regard, “Christian” churches that belong to Satan the Devil.
A church group claiming that they are spiritually Jews. Why? Because ── and I had
a person on Facebook want to argue this with me before ── our Lord Jesus says, “’
You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of
the Jews.’” – John 4:22. And, the Apostle Paul said, “ … for the Jew first and also
for the Greek [or rather, the Gentile].” – Romans 1:16. He goes on to say, “For he is
a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, …” –
Romans 2:28. Before proper conversion, for Jews and Gentiles “there is no
distinction.” – Romans 10:12.
So, a church made up of false Christians claiming salvation, and falsely claiming
that they are of the Jews (spiritually Jews; Galatians 3:29) inwardly ──
masquerading themselves as true Christians, but are “a synagogue of Satan.” Even
in the first century A.D., synagogues of Satan were developing. There were synagogues of Satan already in the cities of Smyrna and in Philadelphia, in Asia
Minor. As well as a great number of antichrists in many towns, as we read in 1st John
2:18-19.
“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming
[speaking concerning Simon Magus], even now many antichrists have come, by
which we know that it is the last hour.”
So, many antichrists ── those masquerading as spiritually religious leaders ── had
gone out from among the true Church of God; they departed from the “faith which
was once for all delivered to the saints.” Those who are claiming that they are
spiritual Jews inwardly, but they LIE.
Our Lord Jesus Christ encourages us – “’ These things says the First and the Last,
who was dead, AND CAME TO LIFE: 9) ‘I know your works, tribulation, and
poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews
[the chosen ones] and are NOT, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10) DO NOT fear any
of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw
some of you into prison 1 …’”
Again, this is not speaking of the Jews who utterly reject our Lord Jesus as the
Messiah, which was occurring long before the Book of Revelation was written. But,
the synagogues of Satan ── churches that follow and teach those of an antichrist
── that church or Jewish synagogue had departed from the living Church of Jesus
Christ! A “synagogue of Satan” is not referring to race, but to a Mother Church and
her daughter churches throughout this present evil age who falsely profess to be
“Christians” ── Jews inwardly.
Satan – the Great Deceiver
Let’s speak of this GREAT DECEIVER, Satan the Devil. This present evil age is
truly ruled by Satan. The true instigator is Satan, and the overall majority of people
of this planet are doing things of which Satan the Devil is the instigator. And, they either don’t care or are ignorant of this. They don’t care, or they are unaware that they are being deceived by an evil and twisted “enchanting whisperer.”
Before he became this great deceiver, he was a beautiful spiritual archangel, “full of
wisdom” ──
“’ Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says
the Lord GOD: ‘You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in
beauty.’” – Ezekiel 28:12.
When heylel, translated Lucifer in Latin, for “morning star,” rebelled against
Elohim’s government, however, that wisdom and perfection became perverted ──
“’ Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for
the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they
might gaze at you.’” – Ezekiel 28:17. He became a trickster and a deceiver. A “great
dragon … that serpent of old [symbolizes his nature as a devourer and deceiver],
called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; …” – Revelation 12:9.
Satan – the Great Propaganda Minister
And when you stop to think about it ── that’s no small accomplishment. As Adolf
Hitler wrote in his book Mein Kampf, “In the big lie there is always a certain force
of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted
in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and
thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the
big lie than the small lie.” His Reich Minister of Propaganda from 1933 to 1945,
Joseph Goebbels, simplified this by saying, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep
repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” Surely, no one would deny
that they were ministers of Satan the Devil.
Beginning with Eve in the Garden of Eden, Satan the Devil has fooled all of humanity
throughout every generation! Including the Most Horrendous Lie Perpetrated Upon Mankind! How has he been able to do this?
Satan long ago came to realize the potential of media propaganda. Our Lord Jesus
Christ calls him, “ …’ a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth,
because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own
resource, for he is a liar and the father of it.’” – John 8:44. The first and most
effective Propaganda Minister ever!
Satan “broadcasts” his deceptive message. For he is the “prince of the power of the
air” – Ephesians 2:2. He emits spiritually an attitude of adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of
wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness,
revelries, and the like.
But the thrust of his spiritual emissions remains the same: to keep people in a spirit
of darkness.
Lucifer Falls From the Light
When Satan the Devil, that serpent of old, was still a beautiful, anointed cherub that
covered, the LORD God (the Elohim, the family of God – which at this time consists
of God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ) placed him in charge of renewing the
Earth (cf. Genesis 1:1; Job 38:7a, “the morning stars sang together”). But this
position angered him. He became filled with vanity and greed. He said in his heart, “ ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also
sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; … I will be
like the Most High.’” – Isaiah 14:12-14, see also Ezekiel 28:12-15.
Satan the Devil mounted a coup d'état against the very throne of God the Father; he
wanted to be our Lord Jesus Christ! But, he was defeated and thrown back down to
the Earth, and the angels that had rebelled with him ── our Lord Jesus saying, “’ I
saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.’” – Luke 10:18.
And, even though Satan the Devil has fallen from the Light, he has not been removed
from his ceremonial throne of this planet, “’ the ruler of this world’” – John 14:30.
Satan has sovereign rulership over the kingdoms on Earth ──
“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2) And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
3) Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, ‘If You are the Son of God,
command that these stones become bread.’
4) But He answered and said, ‘It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’
5) Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6) and said to Him, ‘If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you
up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’
7) Jesus said to him, ‘It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’
8) Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him
all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. …”
Such as the kingdoms of Rome, the Han Dynasty in China, as well as Gaul, Greece, and Egypt.
9) And he said to Him, ‘All these things I will give You if You will fall down and
worship me.’” – Matthew 4:1-9.
Our Master, Elder Brother, and Savior of all mankind, upon His fast-approaching
return to Earth, will take rulership of Earth. Satan the Devil and his demons will then
be spiritually chained and bound ── will not be allowed to deceive the nations
anymore for a thousand years! – cf. Revelation 20:3.
The Whole World Deceived?
Many will argue, “I can agree that Satan has deceived many people. Surely, he has
atheists under his deception. Then some worship Satan the Devil. Then
there are people in every nation who are just plain evil. Certainly, Satan the Devil has
deceived those people. But the whole world? Come on… what about all those
“Christian” churches on every street corner of every major city in America? They
claim that Satan is the wicked one, that he is their enemy. How can you claim that
the whole world is deceived?”
And yes, some sincere biblical theologians teach against the works of Satan
and his demons. And, if you are a person who has come out of Satan the Devil’s
world, spiritually speaking ── as true Christians were called out-- does that mean
that you are now immune from being deceived and misled by Satan and his evil
influence?
Can Satan the Devil pull the wool over your eyes?
We mustn’t be ignorant of his devices, “lest Satan should take
advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” – 2 Corinthians 2:11.
Satan – the Great Compromiser
From the very beginning of his Mother Church ── MYSTERY BABYLON THE
GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE
EARTH ── Satan compromised. Without going deep into it here ── Simon Magus,
after his rejection by the Apostle Peter, began to fashion his own “Christian” church – a church of which he was head. He came to blend together pagan teachings with
some of the teachings of the true Messiah ── and certainly coming in His name,
saying, ‘Jesus is the Christ,’ deceiving the many (Matthew 24:4-5) ── thus creating
a ONE UNIVERSAL CHURCH!
God’s living word clearly says, as we have seen, that Satan has deceived the whole
world. How? He compromised.
Like the Roman Catholic Church of today, he has something for everyone! A
female? No worries, there are now women Catholic priests. A homosexual? No
worries, there are now homosexual priests. The broad highway that leads to
destruction, the highway that this present evil age is following, is broader than
perhaps you realized. You can be whoever you wanna be, love whoever you wanna
love, and sin whatever sin your heart desires ── but they all lead to the same
destination: “the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.”
Also, if he must, Satan will even be willing to allow you to obey the
Law of God ── summed up with the Ten Commandments. As long as
there is at least one commandment, whichever one you choose, that you
refuse to keep and obey! And for most, it’s the 4th commandment.
The reason is: Satan the Devil knows that our great God has ordained that
to break one point of His Law of love is to break them all – James
2:10-11. Therefore, to refuse to obey one is to rebel against
Almighty God’s entire Law. That’s good enough for Satan.
The Ten Commandments In Full Force Today!
There are those in this world who stand on stage, foaming at the mouth, and
vehemently denounce Satan the Devil and his evil works. They condemn his ways
as corrupt. They may be like John Lithgow, in the 1984 movie Footloose, teaching
that Satan can heavily influence people through much of the modern music and
entertainment. These worldly preachers can stand on stage and say all they want…
like, “If our Lord wasn't testing us, how would you account for the proliferation,
these days, of this obscene rock and roll music, with its gospel of easy sexuality and
relaxed morality?” They may even urge you to accept Christ as your personal Savior.
Believe it or not, all this, too, can fit into the parameters of Satan the Devil’s
misdirection. How? Because it can indeed be possible that church denominations
── however sincere, however eloquent or entertaining the sermon might be ──
when they preach and teach, they fall short in properly teaching that we must keep
and obey the holy and righteous Law of God. Instead, they teach that God’s Law has
been “done away,” or “nailed to the cross,” and that it is no longer binding on
Christians.
Instead ── open your Bible and read just what our Lord Jesus says ──
“’ Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets [speaking of the first
five Books of Moses including the Books of the Prophets]. I did not come to destroy
but to fulfill.’” - Matthew 5:17.
Yes, our Lord Jesus Christ showed us how to fulfill God’s Law. He set true Christians
an example that we are to follow, because we are expected to fulfill the Law – James
2:8-12.
Satan the Devil doesn’t want anyone to know that. He wants you to think that what
makes the difference is whether your church “preaches Christ” and believes Jesus is
the Messiah. He certainly doesn’t want you to know that one can believe in Jesus
and that He is the Savior, even worship Him ── but that it can be all in vain! – cf.
Matthew 7:21-23; Mark 7:7.
Test the Spirit ── If It Is Of God
Satan the Devil, is very good at making something evil look good. By compromising, he can take something blasphemous against the LORD God and make it look
wholesome, righteous, and good. Part of his strategy is to disguise ── cf. Matthew
7:15. He has made Christmas appear to be a celebration of the birth of Christ ──
even though it began in paganism. He has disguised Halloween as a celebration for
children to play dress up and beg for candy ── even though it began as a celebration
to honor Satan the Devil himself. He has morphed St. Valentine’s Day ── which
actually began as a celebration of Lupercalia, a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus,
the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus
── to a day in which you give your love interest a box of candy or a dozen roses.
Be aware: As I was just mentioning to my wife, “Just because a medical doctor says
something ── doesn’t necessarily make it true.”
Satan the Devil, is quite deceitful. Your only hope of no longer being fooled by him
and his cronies is to believe the LORD God, to study the living word of God, and to
keep and obey God’s Law. Ask for God’s Holy Spirit to help guide you into the Light
of proper understanding. Do exactly what Satan doesn’t want you to do ── surrender
completely to the LORD God, and “resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8)
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. … 10) Humble yourselves in the
sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” – James 4:7-10.
