Greetings Brethren, Co-Workers, and Friends in Christ Jesus:
It’s the beginning of another new civic month – December. We hope and pray that
all our brethren, co-workers, and friends here in the United States of America had a
great and wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours here was very good. You know…
interestingly, there was, on my wife’s city bus the other day, a Jewish gentleman (the
same one that was carrying the cardboard sign that was written, “The End is Near!”),
that had announced to the whole bus of people that Thanksgiving came from the
Jews. Who knew? I was always taught that it came from 1621 harvest feast that was
shared together by ENGLISH colonists there at Plymouth, giving THANKS to Almighty God. The hearing of that story kinda made me think of Toula's father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, always announcing, “Give me a word, any word, and I'll show you that the root of the word is Greek!”
But anyway ── December. December's name derives from the Latin word decem
(meaning 10) because it was originally the 10th month of the year in the calendar of
Romulus c. 750 BC, which began in March.
