As prophesied within God’s living word, as we approach the end of this present evil age, “ …’many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. … For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, IF POSSIBLE, even the elect.’” – Matthew 24:11, 24.
One such false prophet, Gary Walton──a freelance blogger and creator of The Big Wobble posted back in January 2022 on his “prophetic” website ──
Elijah, the Jewish ProphetElijah who is thought to be the greatest of all Jewish prophets, he formed a “school of prophets.” The great prophet Elijah taught his prophets the age of mankind was to exist for the duration 7,000 years and it is thought, Elijah took this information from the Ancient Book Of Enoch. The 7,000-year prophecyThe history of mankind will last for 7,000 but according to the Bible, 1,000 of them years will come after Armageddon, when Jesus will rule Heaven and Earth, after which Satan will be allowed to roam Earth once more to test mankind for a short period before he is destroyed forever. Enoch prophesied mankind would have a 7,000-year history, take away the 1,000 years for Christ’s Millennial Reign, which would leave us with 6,000 years of history, the other 1,000 coming on the other side of Armageddon. If we could come up with the exact date of creation, a simple mathematical equation adding 6,000 years onto the date of creation would give us an exact date of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ but that is problem, the Bible does not give us a date of the day of creation, some scholars believe they have traced dates back and found it but we can’t know for sure. The Date Of CreationLet’s say the day of creation was 4,000 BC, which is in the ballpark of most Bible scholars, Jesus was killed around 33 AD which was 1,987 years ago meaning the first 6,000 years history of mankind would end around the year 2033 and the great tribulation prophesied in the Bible would begin sometime around 2026 which is uncomfortably close, although the way things are going, not out of the realms of impossibility. The big problem here is no one can agree on the exact date for the creation of mankind. Many scholars have attempted to find an actual date of creation and although most come up with a ballpark figure of around 50 years or less, they all can’t agree on one actual year. I have used two different scholars from different time periods who have arrived at two different dates of creation to help me try to corroborate Enoch’s prophecy. ( I have no evidence whatsoever the two dates I have chosen are the correct ones).
Immediately, we should remember the living words of our Savior, Jesus Christ ──
“’ Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. … But of that day and hour NO ONE KNOWS, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.’” – Matthew 24:26, 36.
Surely, our Lord Jesus Christ is now privy to this knowledge. However, a big red flag should be placed upon this false prophet relying on this “Ancient Book Of Enoch” that we currently have in this present evil age. It is not inspired by the LORD God! Just because our beloved Apostle Jude quotes from a section of the original book that has been lost with time, doesn’t mean the one we currently have is inspired by the LORD.
Another thing, our Lord Jesus’ prophesied ‘great tribulation’ will not begin in 2026! Surely, the earliest then ‘the end’ ── meaning, the end of this present age ── would be 2030.
As far as the “6000 years” ── it’s not an exact time schedule. There’s also issue with “ages” ── how long is an age? As well as “begettal dates” ──
What was the actual date of Adam’s creation? Based on the genealogies in Genesis 5 and 11, it was 4004 BC.
Let us also ponder the genealogies from Genesis 11 regarding Shem (the godly line of man from Noah) ──
“This is the genealogy of Shem: Shem was one hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood. …
12) Arphaxad lived thirty-five years and begot Salah. …
14) Salah lived thirty years, and begot Eber. …
16) Eber lived thirty-four years and begot Peleg. …
18) Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu. …
20) Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug. …
22) Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor. …
24) Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah. …
26) Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, …
32) So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.” – Genesis 11:10-32.
Now, the Great Flood, according to biblical chronology, is estimated to have occurred around 2348 BC. So, Shem’s birth is placed around 2499 BC, according to “traditional genealogy.” Tradition places Abraham’s birth around 1813 BC, give or take a few years.
Tradition places the Exodus around 1446 BC, based on a literal reading of 1 Kings 6:1 and the 480‑year interval back from King Solomon’s reign.
And with all of this, there's the key word ── tradition. It’s not exact, but it does give us a biblical indication of about when the end of this age will come.
That earlier mentioned false prophet wrote that “Jesus was killed around 33 AD which was 1,987 years ago.” Well, he is wrong. We do not believe that our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified in 33 AD. We believe it was 30 AD. It’s been 1,996 years since the crucifixion in 30 AD.
While we do believe that there is biblical support for the LORD God’s 6000–7000-year plan for the redemption of all mankind, again, the key word is “tradition.”
Again, our Master, Elder Brother, and Savior, Jesus Christ, warned us not to be deceived by false prophets claiming that they know just when our Lord Jesus is coming! Notice ──
“’ Take heed, watch and pray; for YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE TIME IS. 34) It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35) Watch therefore, for YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE MASTER OF THE HOUSE IS COMING ── in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning ── 36) lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37) And what I say to you, I say to all: WATCH!’” – Mark 13:33-37.
“’ Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness [physical and spiritual drunkenness!], and cares of this life, and that Day [the prophesied Day of the LORD] come on you unexpectedly. 35) For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36) WATCH THEREFORE, AND PRAY ALWAYS that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass [and certainly what is occurring even now!], and to stand before the Son of Man [and I know I will be kneeling before our Savior!].’” – Luke 21:34-36.
“’ REMEMBER therefore how [and certainly from whom] you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch [and would much rather give dates and sell books, I add editorially], I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.’” – Revelation 3:3.
Our Lord Jesus repeatedly is recorded telling us to WATCH AND PRAY so that that Day would not come upon us unexpectedly.
The Apostle Paul, under divine inspiration, also admonishes us to WATCH AND AWAKE OUT OF SPIRITUAL SLEEP ──
“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed [and for me, it’s been some 45 years!]. 12) The night is far spent, the Day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” – Romans 13:11-12.
“But you, brethren, ARE NOT IN DARKNESS, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5) You are all [children] of light and [children] of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5.
We are absolutely getting ever closer to the end of 6,000 years since the genealogies based on Genesis 5 and 11 regarding the creation of Adam ── 4004 BC. But, has some time been lost? Yes. Throughout mankind's history, humanity has adjusted their calendars multiple times to keep it aligned with the solar year and ── and astronomical events. Each change often involved skipping days and even years, effectively "losing time."
But, let us brethren, “Trust in the LORD with all [our] heart, And lean not on [our] own understanding; 6) In all [our] ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6. □
