PROTESTS ACROSS EUROPE and A Beast Rising Up Out of the Sea

by Leonard V Johnson

Sadly, there continue to be massive protests and riots. Let’s look at some reports. Euronews recently reported ──
24 October 2026

Clashes between French police and protesters after largely peaceful demonstrations that drew thousands

Organizers said more than 800,000 took part in demonstrations across the country, with 250,000 in Paris alone. Authorities said 410,000 demonstrated nationwide. The protests were over the high cost of living and lack of funding for education. …

Those protests then went nationwide before expanding to include wider society.

Well… now──yeah, for me, watching these riots thousands of miles away in the U.S. ── yes, they certainly looked “peaceful” to me──I say sarcastically. Apparently, some in Europe want to just lie to themselves. A type of self-deception!

Italy: Thousands take to the streets as protests turn violent in several cities

Clashes erupted between protesters and police across several Italian cities on Saturday, with officers deploying water cannons and tear gas as demonstrations turned violent. Thousands took to the streets of Rome, Milan, Turin, Bologna and Florence, with protesters throwing bottles, stones and firecrackers.

Rome: Clashes broke out on Saturday evening as protesters marched through the Italian capital. Near Largo di Santa Susanna, demonstrators confronted a police cordon, throwing bottles and setting off firecrackers. Several street signs were also knocked down. Police responded with water cannons.

Milan: Two separate demonstrations involving students, activist groups and pro-Palestinian protesters merged into a single large procession heading towards Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, home to the Polytechnic University of Milan.

Turin: Tensions escalated as protesters clashed with police, prompting officers to deploy tear gas. After marching through the Aurora neighbourhood, demonstrators reached the Mosca Bridge, where police blocked their route towards the city centre. …

Bologna: Emergency services were called to Via Marconi following clashes between demonstrators and police. Paramedics treated an injured young protester at the scene.

Florence: Protesters threw firecrackers and glass bottles at police as tensions rose during a march through the city. Near the Santa TrinitΓ  Bridge, at the junction with Via Tornabuoni, some demonstrators attempted to break through a riot police cordon.

Madrid joins weekend of protests across Europe as thousands rally for better pensions …

Thousands of demonstrators are taking to the streets of Madrid, demanding better public pensions, as a wave of protests sweeps across several European countries amid heightened security and fears of fresh violence.

Ah, yes! Sadly, most U.S. mainstream media news outlets are trying their best to spin a yarn ── it reminds me of the story of Rumpelstiltskin, who spun a “yarn” about himself ── they are spinning a certain narrative that these protests are “peaceful” and that they are protesting over the high cost of living and lack of funding for education. They may have started because of those reasons ── but that is no longer the reason! In those videos, I noticed they tended to show only “peaceful” marches, where people walking along look like they are saying to themselves, “How did I get here in this crowd?”

What about in Germany?

Germany’s Gen Z Stands Up Protests Spread Across Europe Ahead of 21 Cities

Over 10,000 people have registered for protests in 21 German cities on Oct. 31. Europe protests cite high living costs, housing shortages, and education funding, from France to Germany.

We are indeed witnessing a greater number of protests all across Europe. And it appears not to be stopping anytime soon.

Notice part of a dual prophecy spoken of by the Prophet Daniel concerning a time when there will be established a temporary ‘peace deal’ in the Middle East that looks to last some 3½ years. The seventy‑week prophecy ──

“ … the people of the prince who is to come [the prince here was Titus, who led the Roman siege, breached the walls, and the Second Temple was burned, ending the Jewish revolt in 70 AD] Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27) Then he [a future Catholic-led European ‘beast’ leader] shall confirm a covenant [a ‘peace deal’] with many for ONE WEEK [each day for a year; therefore 7 years]; but in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. …” – Daniel 9:26-27.

So, this end-time final ‘prince’ who is to rise will be a Catholic-led European civic and military leader, also called a final ‘king of the North’ in Daniel 11:40. The ‘one week’ is generally understood to mean a SEVEN-YEAR PEACE DEAL that will be broken after only 3½ years.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, warned us that there will come, in the latter days, a time of trouble ── a time of ‘great tribulation’ ── ‘such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be’! And this grave trouble will befall Judah ── modern-day Israel. (cf. Matthew 24:15-22).

Let us also notice something else that God’s living word teaches us concerning the soon-coming final ‘king of the North’ ──

“ … in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things.” – Daniel 11:38.

Daniel 11:38 describes a ruler who honors a “god of fortresses” ── likely symbolizing military power and strength. This represents trusting in human might rather than spiritual authority. Historically, this referred to Antiochus IV’s focus on fortifying military strongholds, but it also foreshadows a future figure who glorifies human power above all else. He likely will feign and claim Roman Catholicism but will turn to a religion his fathers nor his forefathers had known ── massive military technological weapons the likes of which this world has never seen; much of which will likely be weapons created using the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), or nuclear electromagnetic pulse weapons (EMP’s), and even tactical nuclear weapons (TNW’s).

Truly, the LORD God’s immutable word teaches His servants──things which must shortly take place. And what His word shows us is that this final Catholic-led European ‘beast’ leader will be highly militaristic and is also called ‘a beast rising up out of the Mediterranean Sea’ – Revelation 13:1-4.

Sadly, there is coming greater violence and civil unrest throughout Europe.

This is certainly setting the stage for this final beast to rise ── along with the rising of ‘another beast coming up out of the earth, having two horns like a lamb, yet speaking like a dragon’!

Never, brethren, are we to be ignorant of the Devil and Satan’s devices ── including using an innocent-looking “Vicar of Christ” having two horns like an innocent lamb yet speaking with Satan’s own authority! ── 2 Corinthians 2:11.

Truly, when our Lord Jesus’ Witnesses soon come on the scene (cf. Matthew 24:9-14), traveling the world, standing before kings, leaders of nations, and even ‘standing before the god of the earth ── Satan the Devil himself! ── warning and proclaiming of the soon-coming Kingdom of God and of God’s ultimate judgment upon the people of Earth, most people will be deceived, and they will ‘be offended, will betray one another, will hate one another.’ Most will not recognize this Catholic-led European ‘beast’ power for what it truly is, nor will they recognize the Antichrist!

Many false prophets will rise up and will deceive many. And it saddens me to know that most everyone will fall for this deceit according to God’s living word ──

“Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4) who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. … 9) The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs and lying wonders. 10) and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11) And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12) that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, 9-12.

Today, in these perilous times, events in Europe and the Middle East are occurring that are setting the stage for the final fulfillment of these and other biblical prophecies. □

THE MIDDLE EAST IN PROPHECY

(Illustration photo created using GPT Image2 for COJCOM)

by Leonard V Johnson

I find this subject of most interest and of importance prophetically. I’ve spoken of this important subject several times throughout different articles, but here I would like to put it all together in one place.

As we see today on the front page of our world newspapers, the special reports on our favorite news media programs, or any other world news source──the MIDDLE EAST is on the threshold of erupting into an all-out war on a MASSIVE SCALE! Few people actually have any real conception of the danger this whole world is facing.

It is high time that we awoke from our slumber and pay attention. It’s high time we properly knew what God’s living word in prophecy truly reveals. It’s time we knew not only the historical background-- but its future reality. The grave seriousness of this crisis we find ourselves in.

And as we’ve been proclaiming──and our online ministry has been proclaiming since 2019──there is only one Way to properly know the truth. Our Creator, who has made the world and all there is──who has raised kingdoms and has caused kingdoms to fall──reveals the future before it actually occurs so that His servants can know the things which must shortly take place.

As Sydney J. Harris once stated, “History repeats itself, but in such cunning disguise that we never detect the resemblance until the damage is done.” Yet, our Lord Jesus Christ has warned us to ‘Watch!’ Watch world events and to watch for those signs that He has warned us would emerge as we get ever closer to the end of this present evil age. To better understand, we must rely on God’s Spirit to guide us- in fact, just before our Lord Jesus’ departure, He promised that after His departure, the Holy Spirit would come to guide us into all truth.

I find this long prophecy──I believe the longest within God’s living word──the prophecy of the ‘king of the North’ and the ‘king of the South’ to be one of the most amazing of all prophecies! It is most specific, describing real historical and future events in great specificity. It’s found in the Book of Daniel, chapter 11. It describes a centuries-long conflict and an end-time impending war!

Let’s briefly turn to the 10th chapter of Daniel──this prophecy came to the Prophet Daniel in the third year of Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Achaemenid Persian empire. He had captured Babylon in 539 BC, and his third-year rule began about 536 BC, which coincides with Daniel’s vision here; chapter 10 moves into the post-exilic era ──

“In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision.” – Daniel 10:1.

A man, whom he had seen in vision──likely the archangel Gabriel──had appeared to make known to him what would befall the LORD God’s people “in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.’” – Daniel 10:14.

The ‘king of the South’ and the ‘king of the North’

In chapter 11 of the Book of Daniel──a continuation from the last verse of chapter 10. The archangel Gabriel continued explaining to Daniel ── “’ And now I will tell you the truth: Behold, three more kings will arise in Persia, and the fourth shall be far richer than them all; by his strength, through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece. 3) Then a mighty king shall arise, who shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.’” – Daniel 11:2-3.

Now, there were twelve more kings of the Persian Empire, but only the last four are of importance for this prophecy. They were ──
  • Artaxerxes I (465-424 BC) shifted focus to Susa and funded Greek conflicts.
  • Darius II (424-404 BC) and Artaxerxes II (404-358 BC) dealt with internal revolts and the Peloponnesian War.
  • Artaxerxes III (358-338 BC) reconquered Egypt; then Arses (338-336 BC) ruled briefly before Darius III (336-330).
  • Artaxerxes V (Bessus) was executed by Alexander the Great in 329 BC, ending the twelve-king Achaemenid era.
The execution of Artaxerxes V (Bessus) in 329 BC.
(Illustration photo created using GPT Image2 for COJCOM)

So, verse 3, “a mighty king shall arise, who shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will,” was Artaxerxes V (Bessus).

Alexander III of Macedon invaded Persia. He met the Persian army at the Battle of Issus, 333 BC. (cf. Daniel 8:2, 5-6). Then he swept down into Egypt and then delivered a crushing blow, finally defeating the Persian Empire at the Battle of Arbella, 331 BC.

Let’s notice verse 4 ── “’ And when he has risen [Alexander III], his kingdom shall be broken up and divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not among his posterity nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom shall be uprooted, even for others besides these.’”

After King Alexander III’s sudden death, His four generals, Seleucus, Ptolemy, Lysimachus, and Cassander, each carved out a quarter, turning the empire into the Hellenistic kingdoms we see in the record. Thus was this prophecy of verse 4 fulfilled.

Now, notice what follows. The prophecy foretells the activities of two of these four divisions: Ptolemy I of Egypt ── called the ‘king of the South,’ because it is south of Jerusalem; and the Syrian kingdom ── called the ‘king of the North,’ because it is north of Judea. It’s also because the Holy Land had passed back and forth between two divisions, and because there were different wars fought over the principal possession of Judea, that the prophecy is concerned with.

Verse 5 ── “’ Also the king of the South [Ptolemy I Soter, who took Egypt after Alexander’s empire split] shall become strong, as well as one of his princes; and he shall gain power over him and have dominion.’”

So, in history, we learn that the original Ptolemy I, called Soter, did become strong and powerful, developing Egypt beyond the dreams of Alexander III. And one of his ‘princes,’ a general, Seleucus I Nicator, also became strong and powerful.

Seleucus I Nicator (c. 358-281 BC) was a Macedonian officer who had been under Alexander III, later appointed satrap of Babylon after Alexander’s death. He was forced out by Antigonus, found refuge with Ptolemy I, and with Egyptian support retook Babylon in 312 BC, then founded the Seleucid Empire. He expanded eastward and westward, eventually clashing with Ptolemy I’s forces and defeating Antigonus at Ipsus in 301 BC, solidifying his rule over Syria, Mesopotamia, and beyond. His empire grew at the expense of the Ptolemaic realm’s eastern territories. 1

Verse 6 ── “’ And at the end of some years they shall join forces, for the daughter of the king of the South shall go to the king of the North to make an agreement; but she shall not retain the power of her authority, and neither he nor his authority shall stand; but she shall be given up, with those who brought her, and with him who begot her, and with him who strengthened her in those times.’”

So here, the ‘daughter of the king of the South’ was Berenice, the daughter of Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Egypt. She was sent to Antiochus II Theos, the Seleucid ‘king of the North,’ c. 252 BC, to seal a peace treaty after the Second Syrian War. She brought with her a huge dowry, but after Ptolemy II died, Antiochus II restored his first wife, Laodice, and Berenice lost her authority. 2

All this, too, was fulfilled to the letter! ‘him who begot her.’ So, neither would the ‘king of the North’ whom she married stand. Antiochus II Theos, who had married Berenice as part of a peace treaty, died in 246 BC ── likely from poisoning ── Laodice remained in power.

Nowhere in all of God’s living word is there so literal a prophecy, giving so many details of future history!

The Holy Land Changes Hands

Let’s continue here with verse 7 ── “’ But from a branch of her roots one shall arise in his place, who shall come with an army, enter the fortress of the king of the North, and deal with them and prevail.’”

So, here verse 7 is talking about a ‘branch of her roots’ ── a leader who comes from the line of the southern princess Berenice. He rises from humble beginnings, gathers a great army, and breaks into ‘the fortress of the king of the North’ ── the Seleucid monarch at that point was Seleucus II Callinicus, who ruled Syria and Mesopotamia. It’s Berenice’s son, Antiochus III Theos, who stormed the Seleucid stronghold.

The 8th verse of Daniel 11 ── “’ And he shall also carry their gods captive to Egypt, with their princes and their precious articles of silver and gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the North.’”

So, this southern king, Antiochus III Theos, seizes the northern king’s gods, idols, silver, and gold treasures and carries them off to Egypt, and then stays away from the north for ‘more years than the king of the North,’ outliving the northern ruler.

Verse 9 ── “’ Also the king of the North shall come to the kingdom of the king of the South, but shall return to his own land.’”

So, Seleucus II Callinicus, the Seleucid king, tried to push back into Egypt around 242-241 BC, but his fleet was scattered, and his army struck resistance at the frontier, so he withdrew to his own lands.

Verse 10 ── “’ However his sons shall stir up strife, and assemble a multitude of great forces; and one shall certainly come and overwhelm and pass through; then he shall return to his fortress and stir up strife.’”

After Seleucus II Callinicus’s defeat, his sons ── especially Antiochus Hierax ── stirred up a fresh war, gathering forces that swept through the region and threatened the southern kingdom once again.

“’ And,’” continues verse 11 ── “’ … the king of the South shall be moved with rage, and go out and fight with him, with the king of the North, who shall muster a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into the hand of his enemy.’”

So, this ‘king of the South’ here in verse 11 points to the Ptolemaic ruler of Egypt. In the period of this verse, it’s describing likely Ptolemy IV Philopator, who reigned from 221-205 BC and led the Egyptian forces against the Seleucids ── Antiochus III the Great; and, fulfilling verse 12, he killed tens of thousands and again annexed Judea to Egypt.

Verse 12 ── “’ When he has taken away the multitude, his heart will be lifted up; and he will cast down tens of thousands, but he will not prevail.’”

This clash at Raphia describes Ptolemy IV Philopator of Egypt gathering a huge force, routing Antiochus III’s army and driving the captured troops and spoils back into Egypt, c. 217 BC. The battle was brutal ── ancient sources say around ten thousand Seleucid footmen and a few thousand cavalry fell, plus many were captured and enslaved.

“’ For,’” continuing in verse 13 ── “’ … the king of the North will return and muster a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come at the end of some years with a great army and much equipment.’”

Following the Raphia clash, Antiochus III the Great of the Seleucids rebuilds his forces, waiting about a decade, then marching south again into Coele-Syria and Judea with a massive army, c. 203-202 BC.

Verse 14 ── “’ Now in those times many shall rise up against the king of the South. Also, violent men of your people shall exalt themselves in fulfillment of the vision, but they shall fall.’”

Daniel 11:14 is packed ── it’s talking about the Fifth Syrian War, roughly 203-195 BC. The young Egyptian king Ptolemy V Epiphanes is besieged by a coalition of Antiochus III the Great of the Seleucids, Philip V of Macedon, and other Hellenistic allies, while opportunistic Judean factions stir up rebellion from within.

Moving on to verses 15 to 19 ── it’s showing us the Seleucid king, Antiochus III, rallying his forces again, only to be beaten by the Egyptian Ptolemy V’s army. These verses track the back-and-forth: the North tries to seize the South’s territories, then the South pushes back, and the conflict drags on with shifting alliances and occasional Jewish uprisings, all the way through the latter part of the Fifth Syrian War. 3

Verse 20 ── “’ There shall arise in his place one who imposes taxes on the glorious kingdom; but within a few days he shall be destroyed, but not in anger or in battle.’”

Here there was a brief reign after Antiochus III’s death. Seleucus IV Philopator, his son, took the throne in 187 BC, raised heavy taxes to pay Rome’s indemnity and sent Heliodorus to collect tribute from the temple in Jerusalem. He ruled only about twelve years and was then poisoned ── so he was ‘destroyed, but not in anger or in battle.’

Verse 21 picks up right after Seleucus IV Philopator. ‘A vile person,’ a short-lived ruler, Antiochus V Epiphanes, a child king who inherits the throne, raises a large army, but is quickly overthrown and disappears when the Seleucid line collapses under internal revolt and Roman pressure.

Verse 22 ── points to Antiochus IV Epiphane’s early triumphs ── he crushes the Egyptian forces, seizes Pelusium and captures Ptolemy VI, sweeping away the opposing armies. ‘the prince of the covenant’ here was the Jewish high priest, Onias III, who was the living head of the Mosaic covenant and was deposed and killed by Antiochus early in his reign.

Continuing this history with Antiochus IV Epiphane ── verse 23. After his treaty with the South, he rises to power with only a handful of men, then works deceitfully ── using intrigue and gifts to win allies, building a large army, and eventually seizing control of Egypt.

Verse 24 ── Antiochus IV Epiphane turns his attention back to the South, mustering a massive army, and launches a second campaign that crushes the Egyptian forces, seizing Pelusium and forcing Ptolemy VI into a brief captivity.

Verse 25 ── Antiochus IV Epiphane is mustering a massive force, turning on Ptolemy VI of Egypt. The Egyptian king raises an even larger army, but internal plots cause his defeat.

Verse 26 ── Antiochus IV Epiphane’s own people are turning on him; those who share his food betray him, his army collapses, and many are slain.

Verse 27 ── is showing us Antiochus IV Epiphane of the Seleucids and Ptolemy VI of Egypt scheming together, each trying to out-deceive the other at the negotiating table, but their plots fail because ‘the end will still be at the appointed time.’

Verse 28 ── Antiochus IV of the Seleucids, fresh from Egypt, turns back north and, before he leaves, strikes Jerusalem ── his heart set on the covenant, he wounds the city and its people.

Verse 29 ── Antiochus IV of the Seleucids will go back to the South again, but this time his campaign won’t end like the earlier ones ── this time he’ll be checked by the Roman fleet, and the result will be different.

Verse 30 ── A renewed push on Egypt, only to be halted when a Roman fleet ── sent from Kittim ── arrived. The Roman envoys, led by Popilius Laenas, forced him to abandon the siege of Alexandria, turning his campaign into a retreat.

Verse 31 ── After the Roman fleet forced him back, Antiochus IV lashed out at the holy covenant ── plundering the Jerusalem temple, erecting a Greek altar, banning the Sabbath, and sparking the Maccabean revolt. His troops defiled the Jerusalem temple, halting the daily sacrifices, and installing ‘the abomination of desolation,’ the Greek altar of Zeus that he set up after the earlier raid.

Moving on to verse 32 ── Antiochus IV’s next move. Using flattery to lure Jews into abandoning the covenant, while the faithful Maccabees held fast and pushed back against his Hellenizing pressure.

Verse 33 ── points to the rise of the faithful, ‘the people who understand’ ── people like Mattathias the priest and the scribe Eleazar ── who, amid Antiochus IV’s Hellenizing push, kept the covenant alive, instructed many, and helped the Maccabees hold fast.

Verse 35 ── wraps up the Maccabean picture. ‘some of those of understanding shall fall,’ captured or burned, but their suffering refines them. The LORD God set the end of that trial. But God will bring the final deliverance ‘for the appointed time.’

Historically, up to verse 35 pointed us to Antiochus IV Epiphane, but from this point forward in this chapter it moves beyond his deeds and points us toward the future, an ultimate oppressor who will repeat those same defiant actions.

Prophecy Skips to Our Immediate Future

So, the Book of Daniel as well as the Book of Revelation also speak of the future. Recall, the angel of the LORD said, “’I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people IN THE LATTER DAYS.’” So, there is a secondary fulfillment of this very prophecy. So, this very thing actually did take place – as did the utter destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, led by the future emperor of Rome – Titus. But there will be a future fulfillment of this prophecy, in which a “man of sin,” as the Apostle Paul says in 2nd Thessalonians, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, sitting himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is God! He is going to set himself up in a newly built third temple, desecrate the temple, and will call himself God.

Verse 36 – “’Then the king [a final Catholic-led European ‘beast’ leader] shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath [meaning, the Day of the LORD] has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37) He shall regard neither the God of his fathers …’” – he will possibly be an atheist. “ …’ nor the desire of women, …’” – could this be a reference to the fact that he will be a homosexual? Or will he just not acknowledge what women might think? “ …’nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all.’”

Verse 40 – “’ At the time of the end the king of the South …’” – and as I’ve said, a combination of nations under Islam, such as North Africa, the Middle East, and over in areas like Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran. “ …’ shall attack him; and the king of the North …’” – this reorganized and revitalized concept of the “Holy” Roman Empire. The king of the North vs. the king of the South. The European combine and the Islamic confederation – whatever they will call themselves in the future. “ …’shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through.’”

Notice that all of Daniel 11 is a constant flow of conflict between the king of the North and the king of the South! And I think that we understand those Scriptures to mean the king of the North (a future European combine; Catholic Europe) – which is taking shape right now! And yet, receiving very little notice on the world stage.

So, Daniel 11 picks up right after the Babylonian exile ends- around the time when King Cyrus the Great lets the Jews return roughly 538 BC and then moves into the Persian/Greek era.

Indeed, if you map the succession──Seleucids for the North, Ptolemies for the South──you can draw a line into a future clash. But as the line moves forward, the ‘king of the South’ shifts away from Egypt. It becomes a broader reference of power which opposes the North, but not the old Ptolemaic realm. The line aligns with the proper understanding that the ‘king of the South’ is a coalition of Islamic nations opposing the Northern power in the end times. There has been a long-standing clash between the West and the Arab world.

If you trace the succession through the early caliphates──Umayyad, Abbasid, then the Ottoman realm──you can see a thread of Islamic political blocs that keep expanding. Today’s ‘push’ toward a broader Islamic security pact, like the Mecca agreement among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, is the modern echo of that evolving final ‘king of the South’coalition.

And just like the South──the ‘king of the North’ moves beyond the old Seleucid line, it too becomes a broader reference to the power that rises in the North. If you follow the ‘North’ thread from the Seleucid line through the Roman-Byzantine era, the medieval “Holy” Roman Empire, the rise of Prussia and Bismarck’s German unification, you can map it onto today’s push for a “United States of Europe.” The pattern shows a series of northern powers consolidating, ending in the modern federalist vision.

Here we are in the time of this end, closing in on this marvelous prophecy! Notice Daniel, chapter 12 ──

“’ At THAT TIME Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble [a time of ‘great tribulation’], Such as never was since there was a nation [the nation of JUDAH], …’” – Daniel 12:1. Certainly, the glorious blowing of the SEVENTH TRUMPET, the resurrection trumpet! The glorious and powerful Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Are you ready for that event? Because it is fast approaching. Now is high time to get ready, for our Lord Jesus said, “’ And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!’” □

October 7th Massacre Condemned as Hamas Signals More Violence

by Leonard V Johnson

Celebrating the October 7 massacre is inhumanity, not solidarity

On the anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on 7th October 2023, in which 1,200 people were murdered and 250 were abducted, Sacha Roytman Dratwa, of the ‘Combat Antisemitism Movement’, recalls in an opinion piece for Euronews what had already begun in many countries on 8 October 2023.

My grandfather had survived the Holocaust. On October 7, 2023, I was with him in Belgium when the images from Israel began to arrive.

For our family, genocide was not an abstract word. It was part of the history that had shaped his life and made my own possible. Now, alongside him, I was watching the first images of another massacre of Jews.

I felt horror, fear, and helplessness. Nevertheless, there was something particularly painful about experiencing that moment with my grandfather. After everything he had survived, he had lived long enough to witness this.

The attack by Hamas and other armed terrorist groups would leave approximately 1,200 people dead and 251 abducted. …

Then came October 8.

I began seeing images of demonstrations, hearing “Glory to the Martyrs”, “Free Palestine” and “From the River to the Sea,” and seeing accusations of genocide. What struck me was the speed and repetition. I had scarcely begun to process the images from Israel, and already I was trying to understand the public response to them.

Moreover, the timeline of accusations matters.

On October 8, Israeli forces were still fighting Hamas gunmen inside southern Israel. The Israeli ground offensive in Gaza would not begin until October 27. These anti-Israel demonstrations were taking place while the fighting against the infiltrating terrorist attackers was still underway, not after months of ground warfare.

In New York’s Times Square on October 8, demonstrators carried signs declaring “Zionism is genocide.” Reporting from the rally described some participants mocking Israeli counterdemonstrators and chanting the then reported Israeli death toll. In Sydney outside the Opera House, they chanted “Where’s the Jews?”

These were not expressions of concern for Palestinian civilians. …

I remember the horror of October 7. I remember the isolation I felt on October 8, and I remember why the people in those images must remain people, with names, families and lives, rather than becoming abstractions in someone else’s argument.

So, even though former President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump had proclaimed to the world some version of ‘peace for our time,’ in our posts we have been warning the LORD God’s living words, “For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:3.

“We will do October 7 again”: Freed hostage Avinatan Or reveals Hamas captor’s threat

Freed hostage Avinatan Or revealed Monday that the Hamas terrorist who held him in Gaza told him, shortly before his release, to leave Israel because the terrorist organization intends to carry out another October 7 massacre. “As long as there is one Jew in the Land of Israel, we will slaughter you again and again and again,” the terrorist, identified as Abu Hassan, told Or, according to his account in an interview broadcast on Keshet 12’s investigative program Uvda (“Fact”). …

According to Or, Abu Hassan came to inform him that an agreement had been reached under which he would be released. “Go home, say goodbye to your father, goodbye to your mother, meet up with your friends. Two, three, four days, a week, and then take a bag, pack, and go to Europe,” the terrorist told him. “You know why? Because we will do October 7 again.”

Or said he refused. “I looked at him and said, ‘I’m not leaving,’” he recounted.

Sadly──but, understandably-- there is still no real and lasting peace in the Gaza Strip that continues to be ruled by the evil and vile terrorist group known as Hamas.

Notice part of a dual prophecy spoken of by the Prophet Daniel concerning a time when there will be established a temporary ‘peace deal’ in the Middle East that looks to last some 3½ years. The seventy‑week prophecy ──

“’ And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come [the prince here was Titus, who led the Roman siege, breached the walls, and the Second Temple was burned, ending the Jewish revolt in 70 AD] Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

This breaking of the covenant is also confirmed in the following Scripture, which originally is talking about Antiochus IV Epiphanes of the Seleucid Empire ──

“’ So he [again, a future Catholic-led European ‘beast’ leader] shall return and show regard for those who forsake the holy covenant. 31) And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.’” – Daniel 11:30, 31.

Daniel 7-8: ‘the little horn’

Regarding this false ‘peace deal,’ a final Roman Catholic papacy will be involved in that in several ways. Notice our LORD God’s living words in prophecy regarding ‘a little horn’ ──

“’ Then I wished to know the truth about THE FOURTH BEAST, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, which devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet; 20) and the ten horns that were on its head, and THE OTHER HORN which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows. …

23) ’ And in the latter time of their kingdom, When the transgressors have reached their fullness [let’s note our Lord Jesus’ words, “’ But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.’” – Matthew 24:36], A king shall arise, Having fierce [countenance], Who understands sinister schemes. 24) His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; He shall destroy fearfully, And shall prosper and thrive; he shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.

25) Through his cunning He shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule; And he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity, He shall even rise against the Prince of princes; But he shall be broken without human means.’” – Daniel 8:19-20, 23-25.

These verses describe for us the ‘little horn’ that rises in the latter part of their kingdom, who speaks pompous words against the Most High, and shall persecute true Christians, along with a fierce ruler who will cause great devastation, and who will stop the daily sacrifices and set himself against the Prince of princes (our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ). This originally pointed towards Antiochus IV Epiphanes and his persecution against Judah. This is a dual prophecy ──there’s a solid historical line that this ‘little horn’ is the papacy, the Roman Catholic Church rising and taking on that same historic ‘blasphemous’ role.

And again, in Daniel 11 ── it’s pointing to a future despised usurper in the Near East, not a legitimate heir. A future figure like Antiochus IV Epiphanes ── who seized power by intrigue and halted the temple worship and sacrifices ──

“’ And after the league is made with him he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24) He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.’” – Daniel 11:23-24.

So, this soon-rising Catholic-led European ‘beast’ leader will give the people the impression that he will ‘enter peaceably.’ This is the same end-time final ‘beast’ leader that will confirm a covenant with many, as spoken about in Daniel 9:27. However, this final leader will destroy many who are under the impression that they are secure under his leadership.

He will also make a lying deal with an end-time final Islamic-led ‘king of the South’ ─ cf. Daniel 11:27.

It is clear ── or rather, it should be clear ── that the current Gaza Strip “peace” deal will never bring about real and lasting peace. Yet, in time we will see a ‘temporary peace deal.’ Perhaps after a major attack against Israel by an evil and radicalized Islamic Regime of Iran and its proxies, damaging the city of David greatly ─ cf. Isaiah 22:6-9.

Now, having said all that ── let us praise the LORD God Most High ── the Prophet Zechariah, in a dual prophecy, speaks of glorious change coming to the Gaza Strip ──

“ Ashkelon shall see it and fear; Gaza also shall be very sorrowful; And Ekron, for He dried up her expectation. The king shall perish from Gaza, And Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.” – Zechariah 9:5.

Zechariah 9:1-5 comes from the post-exilic period, around 520-500 BC under King Darius I, when Judah was a Persian province. These early verses name the Philistines (modern-day Palestinians) among the southern foes, and Gaza was one of their five cities. So, this dual prophecy’s reference to ‘the Philistines’ (modern-day Palestinians) includes the area today known as the Gaza Strip. ‘The king shall perish from Gaza,’ refers to the Palestinian ruler, who today is (at least at this moment in time) Khalil Al-Hayya.

Yes, this had an original fulfillment, but it also has a future and final fulfillment!

The LORD God forever be praised! □

Is An Islamic NATO Being Formed?

ChatGPT-generated illustration for COJCOM

Since at least 2019, we have been proclaiming and warning of a soon-coming “Islamic NATO”!

August 7th, a defense agreement was reached between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. And the Turkish representative said that others in the region were invited to join. (See: DW - Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan sign defense deal).

Have Pakistan, TΓΌrkiye and Saudi Arabia just launched an ‘Islamic NATO’?

7 August 2026

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and TΓΌrkiye signed a defense pact on Friday, sparking talk of a NATO style grouping that could alter the regional power balance.

The bloc’s formation comes amid a volatile security situation in the Middle East, triggered by the US-Israeli attacks on Iran. Tehran’s retaliation against Gulf monarchies, who have been traditional US allies, has exposed the limitations of the American security umbrella and forced the Gulf Arabs to think of alternative security frameworks.

The pact was signed in Mecca by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that an armed attack on any one of the three countries would be regarded as an attack against them all. However, whether such an attack would elicit a combined military response – on the lines of NATO’s Article 5 collective defense commitments – from the bloc is not clear.

Why is the pact significant?

Still, the military alliance between three Sunni Muslim countries offers a powerful symbolism in a region wracked by conflict.

The chairman of the Saudi-based think tank Gulf Research Center, Abdulaziz Sager, told Reuters, “The trilateral framework could strengthen the three countries’ collective diplomatic and defense weight while contributing to the emergence of a more regionally driven security architecture.”

The three players bring very powerful assets to the grouping: Pakistan is the only Muslim country with a nuclear arsenal; TΓΌrkiye has a robust defense industry and the second-largest military in NATO; and Saudi Arabia – the world’s biggest crude exporter – has the financial muscle, apart from a military bristling with American weapons.

However, experts note that this is not the first attempt to establish a similar counterweight in the region, and the latest pact may not immediately be a “gamechanger.”

“I wouldn’t go to the extent of calling it Islamic NATO or the emergence of a new security block or a new alliance or… alignment,” Middle East expert and an associate professor at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University, Muhammad Mudassir Qamar, told RT India. He noted that such attempts at alliance have been made in the past.

So, this pact is Islamic NATO-esque.

Of course, at the moment only three nations are in it, but 14 countries (including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan) have joined a naval alliance in the region (See: The National – Saudi Arabia names commander of multinational maritime defence alliance).

So, there are definite steps toward this “Islamic NATO.”

We should also consider that Egypt has also been working on this ──

Could Middle East war bring region closer to an 'Arab NATO'?

Egypt is again calling for a joint Arab military alliance – sometimes described as an “Arab NATO” – to defend the region. But Arab states are deeply divided over the idea, Middle East analyst Hasni Abidi tells RFI.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi this week renewed calls for a common Arab force – a proposal that has been discussed for years but has never taken shape.

The idea has resurfaced as conflict spreads across the Gulf, with Iranian missile and drone strikes hitting several Arab states in retaliation for attacks by Israel and the United States. The escalation is also raising new questions about how Arab countries should organize their own defence. …

RFI: What does the idea of an “Arab NATO” involve?

Hasni Abidi: It is an old idea. During the war in Yemen, Saudi Arabia wanted to form an Arab coalition, similar to NATO, against the Houthis. It managed to involve some states, but their participation was largely symbolic and it never succeeded in creating a real military coalition.

As early as 2015, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi suggested forming an Arab military coalition, backed by the United States, to fight terrorism in the region.

More recently, when Qatar was hit by Iran, the Egyptian president spoke about the need for a common Arab defence to face this challenge.

Today, he has sent his foreign minister to support the Gulf countries, but also to tell them that the current circumstances require a new Arab architecture – in other words, a shared defence system run by Arab states themselves.

RFI: The idea is not new and has never succeeded. Could the situation today change that?

HA: It is very difficult to imagine all Arab states accepting this Egyptian proposal. Several states say they have no interest in joining a military alliance. …

RFI: Do the attacks on Gulf countries because of their alliance with the United States call into question their relationship with Washington?

HA: There is now a debate in Gulf countries about their relationship with the United States. Is this partnership still relevant? The war with Iran has exposed not only the vulnerability of the Gulf states but also what many see as American inaction when it came to protecting their partners, even though they are linked by mutual defence agreements.

There is a growing feeling of abandonment in the Gulf.

Truly, because of this WAR between the United States of America and the Islamic Regime of Iran ── the Arab countries are looking for increased military alliance and cooperation. The end-time prophecy recorded for us in Daniel 11:40-43 will come to pass. And Pakistan being involved should be of no surprise.

There is a global fear that there is a secret nuclear ‘umbrella’ deal between Riyadh and Islamabad! Is Saudi Arabia building a nuclear bomb with Pakistan’s help? (See: Zee News – A.Q. Khan 2.0? Global fears erupt over secret nuclear 'umbrella' deal between Riyadh and Islamabad). Of course, the Government of Pakistan has denied the existence of any such agreement, followed by the confirmation from Saudi Arabia. 1

Back in 2015, “Saudi Arabia Announces 34-Nation Islamic Alliance Against Terrorism” without Iran! In 2017, the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, of Saudi Arabia stated that he wanted even more military alliances and cooperation against “terrorism until it is eradicated.”

Again, we are certainly witnessing steps in that direction!

According to God’s living word in prophecy, a combined end-time Islamic military force of Arabs and others will come to pass. And this military alliance will be led by what the LORD God calls a final ‘king of the South.’

“’ AT THE TIME OF THE END the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North [a final “United States of Europe”] shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41) He shall also enter the Glorious Land [Palestine], and many countries shall be overthrown; but these [initially] shall escape from his hand: Edom [which is Turkey], Moab [which is Iraq], and the prominent people of Ammon [or Jordan]. 42) He shall stretch out his hand [the ‘king of the North’] against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43) He [a final “United States of Europe”] shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels.’” – Daniel 11:40-43, NKJV.

The peoples mentioned above are mainly located in North Africa and the Middle East──and 12 of them recently signed a naval coalition agreement! They are in Islamic-dominated lands and include the Arabs and some Turks.

Our beloved King David, in a prophetic psalm, provides for us some additional insight into this soon-coming prophecy. Germany (which was anciently Assyria) and perhaps the rest of Europe will be in league in the near future with an Arab alliance──a vast confederacy bound together in an effort to annihilate the very name of “Israel” from the face of the Earth! This Arab/Islamic confederacy can technically be considered the final ‘king of the South’──a mighty power that will encompass large swaths of the Islamic world.

“’ They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4) They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’ 5) For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You: 6) The tents of Edom [the progenitor of the Turkish people] and the Ishmaelites [Saudi Arabia]; Moab [think Jordan] and the Hagrites [they anciently dwelt in the land known as Syria today]; 7) Gebal [Lebanon], Ammon [modern Jordan], and Amalek [Turks]; Philistia [modern Palestinians] with the inhabitants of Tyre [Lebanon] 8) Assyria [whose descendants migrated to Germany] also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot [Moab and Ammon in modern Jordan]” – Psalm 83:3-8.

In the end, this European/Arab alliance will be short-lived. The final ‘king of the North’──the Catholic-led civic and military leader of a reorganized SEVENTH RESURRECTION of a “Holy” Roman Empire will ultimately turn against the final ‘king of the South’──the Islamic-led civic and military leader of a final Islamic Confederation of Nations (cf. Daniel 11:40-43). “’ … and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through.’” So, this final end-time Islamic Confederation of Nations will be attacked and thrown into a chaotic disarray with this massive attack!

While this final end-time leader hasn’t risen quite yet, we are certainly witnessing even more military alliances and cooperation between Arabic and Islamic countries──especially since the beginning of this WAR between the USA and the Islamic Regime of Iran. Yes, this will lead to the rise of a final ‘king of the South,’ so says God Almighty!

We can certainly quote here Charlton Heston upon the opening of the blockbuster movie, Armageddon, “It happened before. It will happen again. It’s just a question of when.” □
